Pls don't mind the screen/graphics too much. He is a cellist. :-)

Adam Liu is another new finding I am floored. Very solid playing and probably at par with any other cellist alive I can think of in some music pieces. eg. His Bach Suite 6... surreal to me.... who is this guy.....

Thanks... I guess photo can lie. Seeing it in front of me is quite hard to say the same. Afterall, it is a DIY by me and I know my own workmanship.

I guess it does give me lots of fun time. Imagine some of the drivers were broken. (Actually all are broken or seller would not sell.) I actually had to learn how to dissemble few drivers and consolidate/reasemble into a good ones because no one can do it or wanna go thru the hassle of trying. Come to think of it... no wonder it sound like shit....

Daiwok,
Thanks for the kind word. I just hope that I can sit comfortably when listening to music. Somehow my gears are not good looking by themselves nor do I have exquisite decor taste, thus I can only try to make my stuff least eye catching. After all, my DIY speakers are ugly. Yet, it took me much effort to get it to sound normal, Lots of 感情分,or I would have throw it to landfill long time ago....

Great, radio/mini hifi never lack coherence, an area where a lot of active crossover systems fail miserably.

I wish I have such high goal/intention in mind. Actually, kind of lost these days (or should I say never not lost). The more I drilled into this hobby, the more I seemed confused. Current goal is just hope to have a background system that does not sound annoying. I am still using whatever I have on hand because they are there.... No urge nor passion these days and hope to borrow some sparks from here.

A bit of an update.

Life is back to normal and normal means baby sitting and kids watching all the time.

Hifi life is half dead but no regret. Afterall, my hearing is never good anyway. My goal these days is to make system sound like radio/mini hifi. I will leave this story for another time.

If I am to dig out any "achievement" recently, I would say I probably have the most compact active crossover and av system around town. (Yup, I gave up LP at home. It is too attractive for kids and they are now crazy with spinning Ninjago if you know what it is.)

Cheers.

Cool movie name.

Have not been around long time. Was busy with home project. Hopefully life will be back to normal by end of this month. Hopefully, I can get back on journey to sound.

Meantime, I am spending much time listening to headphones. Quite a joy actually. (See! I told you I am quite low life.)

A must see sing contest show for those who like this kind of stuff. It has almost everything.

9m35s - Pricetag
39m20 - 2008 Olympic games and re-sing again
58m15s - The prayer

Most others are also at top pro level. Simply amazing.

Hi Friends,

Have been tied up with domestic affairs these days. Just want to give a bit of update in case people think I really vanished from this hobby.

Long story short, I am staying in far away in New Territory temporarily. These days, I kind of setup a new system from leftover trash. Quite fun as most of the stuff are dirt cheap or cost close to nothing, yet with lesser expectation, I found myself more at ease in listening to music.

Other than the above, I also started up a cheapo CAS for youtube. This is a big leap for me as I hate computers. I guess being so far away with nothing better to do at night, funny ideas keep popping up.

I guess this tell how hopeless I am.... in case anyone does not already know.

Cheers.

For friends that may find the backing vocal interesting. Everything was improvised.
Its a pity that we don't get singers of such caliber in HK these days...

A bit of sharing -

One nite, I got bored in front of computer. Ended up got a Denon AU-300LC MC stepup just for the heck of it. This is an item that keep coming up whenever I got fedup with hifi breakdown and maintenance.

Got it and first few days was a torture but heck, after few weeks of running in, it is safe to say this transformer match very well with 103R.

Those who have been searching for a "kau Kei" setup after many disappointments, may consider this humble little box. It can a a good benchmark item too.

Happy listening.

totally agreed, "full of shit and contradiction" appears to be the norm these days among audiophiles. Thanks for shedding a light on it! The other wonderful quality about you is your photography. Like your writing, always honest & subtle with full compliment to the story. Never loud and obnoxious.

Thanks for the nice words. Yet, err...., I was talking about myself thou.

By the way, pls don't judge my photo skill from my post. This can be misleading. I stopped taking photography seriously ever since digital era started. Still remember the day I got my first DSLR and felt insulted for holding one. Now my wife shoots more photos and yes, I have better hit rate but quite meaningless. I maybe able to get 5 good ones in 100 shots; my wife can get 10 good ones in 1,000 shots. I felt totally defeated and no more fun.

I miss the good old film days when photography was art of regret.

SOOOO CUTE ! and looks like daddy ! I am sure he has golden ears with such a big smile !

Well, he may look like me but probably better hearing. Remember I am usually semi-deaf and have pretty low standard.

During periodic checkup, a nurse suspected Aiden was deaf as he showed no reaction to bell rings or noise in general. Little does she knows Aiden has been well trained at home and cannot be bothered by noise around. He just doesn't care....
