Jo, an idea for your window came to mind yesterday while I was golfing at the back 9. It's a really neat product! I'll pick it up on my next visit and send it it over to you.

ps: the collection of photos is a joint effort from our crew members. Only the blurry ones were taken by me.

There is the brand name vaguely visible on the front. See if you could make intelligent guesses.

Hi Kris, thank you very much for the pictures and your good words. I spent a lot of times tidying up the sound prior your visit; I did this simply I value this meeting very much and I appreciate all the pointers and advice. I was pleasantly surprised that you could still remembered the sound from your last visit (5 years ago). Indeed you are quite right that the lower bandwidth is a lot tidier this time.

My listening preferences requires multi-facet sonic presentation that includes as much of those "believable" elements and retrospectively trying to precludes the artifacts as much as I can. Much of my attempts have been trying to strike a BALANCE between physicality against those non-physical elements, where every desirable attributes of music presentation are taken care of EVENLY.

Yes, you are right, my AB-1 is integrated in my system but not the Decca Ribbon Super Tweeters. I have few attempts in trying to integrate the Decca but I always find without it sounded better, more becomes "less" in this instance.

Thanks to our tour captain Gan's generosity, this is Vincent's first time joining our hi-fi activities. Vincent is new at the game and not shy on taking advantage every chance he gets.

I left Jo's place with the feeling of just attended a well organized religious event. Everything was thoughtfully prepared from the lovely snacks on the table to each and every track played on his system. Jo gave a polished presentation, well spoken and detailed. In addition, I was delighted to see him experimenting the 3/5a with a set of FM Acoustic as well as a new source! Apart from feikeung's loud snoring (he does that everywhere) and the bright sunlight through the window (felt like in Caravaggio's painting "Calling of St Matthew"), I could probably sat for hours listening to a vast variety of materials. In short, the new sound drew me into the music swiftly with convincing depth from a rig this size, gave one of the best "musical" experiences of the trip.

ps: Jo, thanks for the BBC tracks on Elvis and Marvin Gay!

Master Limage,

I had a similar arm in my system at one point which was the Schroder DPS. I believe what I am looking at is a similar design by Musical Life. The Schroder dangles by a wire with the magnetic bearing working by attraction. The Musical Life replaces the wire being in tension by a ball bearing and a screw. This might be better in humid conditions as the Schroder wire can change length microscopically speaking and the change you can hear !! The Schroder is one of the hardest arms to fine tune, I had to spend a long time to get the magnetic attraction correct which governs the VTA, VTF, azimuth and the tracking force ! @@

Our friend Rafal has the Schroder DPS installed at his den now. Its a nice sounding arm, one of the best style unipivot, sweet and detailed.

BTW - I was in contact with Musical Life before they went commercial many moons ago, they were the very first commercial people to make a Slate Turntable. What is more interesting is the slate record mat they now sell ...... or they call it shale

回覆 (96): Rumble in Malay Day 3 - midnight snack

In the late afternoon, Popeye, Gingers and I went to Len's new penthouse where he has also a completely new system installed. It's been built around a pair of beautiful Genesis 200 system which consists of mid-high open baffles plus woofer towers that fire both at the front and at the back. Electronics are all finely crafted solid state except the CD player, a familiar ARC tube masterpiece.

Len’s system features remarkable presence which easily fills the high ceiling volume with great music.

When we finally made it inside the house, we saw what appeared to be a mini shopping mall, a theater for live performance, as well as a nightclub (felt like I was on a cruise!). That was just on the 2 floor I think?
