A bit of updating.

I am recently trying out digital crossover to see what exactly it is. No conclusion on the sound quality but the convenience it can give is simply amazing.

So far, only a few observations found -
> Decrease in volume will lead to quite significant decrease in resolution.
> The dynamic of digital going straight into amp can be a bit flat.
> Digital seems to cut more clean but this may also be due to killing the subtly.

Potential solution -
1. Use the EQ to kid myself.
2. Get 3 pre-amps after the crossover.

It is indeed a fun project and probably enlightening with the knowledge learn during the process.

No wonder people got suck in once started and takes forever to fix it.

Cheers,
Ben

Hmm... a bit of sharing...

Hit the wall with analog active crossover. Knowing its limit, going digital is the only way out..... I can see it waving at me but heck, let me stick with what I have now until my upgrade bug bites severely again.

Luckily Ben can be lazy at times.

Hi Sokps,

Better coherence and/or higher sound stage?

I aim at time aligning the drivers better while trying to avoid a large reflective surface right in front of the tweeter. Supposedly, this can improve coherence and lower cancellation (more detail). Supposedly.....

I like the cross-over settings better done by AA............:-) (just kidding!)

Hey, Ben!

What's the difference by hanging up the tweeter?

CP,

Whoever told you this is indeed playing prank on both of us. Yet, you are most welcomed to come anytime.

Just a few pieces of junk connected together. For some unknown reasons, I still fancy the 50s.....

Project kind of completed.

The odd speaker became even odder.

Time for a break as I got sick and tired of tweaking and tuning last few weeks. What a loser indeed.

By the way, friends here pls don't think I like this active crossover idea. I lack the following for my DIY Jensen speakers:

A-61 crossover
A-402 crossover
M-1311 crossover

If I found the above in decent condition, my active will be threw out the window in no time.....

May be and may be not. I've seen many friends made their plunge into this electronic X'over black hole and never quite able to come out since. It must be a place of ecstasy!

Most of them probably "lai-yeah" but thought they could fix. Who would have known that it would take decades to fix... and still fixing....

The crossover I am using is a dbx 234xlr. It is a 3 way stereo/4way mono crossover. I do like it much for the simplicity. Yet, this is my first crossover so there is indeed no comparison.

Recently, I am looking into getting some plants for home. While looking for candidates that can suit indoor minimal sunlight plants, I found that some plants can not only absorb carbon dioxide but also absorb some toxic stuff in the air. (Yes, everyone knew this already but I didn't...)

After some info gathering, the followings are quite nice -

Peace lily 白鶴芋又名白掌
Birdnest fern 雀巢蕨
Malabar chestnut 發財樹

Supposedly, these plants are also more efficient in bumping out oxygen.

Why is this music or hifi related? Er..., supposedly higher oxygen content can help in concentration and probably help me awake. If placed wisely, can also be use as diffuser.

Also, I find this site quite a good place for plant dumb like me.
