Try this pure manual setting:

ISO 800
A 3.5
Exp 0.75 second
flash

Alex,

An earlier picture taken with external flash which allowed the flexibility of manual settings. Modern cameras are far too much governed by electronic controls. I end up turning off 80% of their gimmicky functions.

which seems to give the in-between.

the picture from post #29 gives the best ambient impression with the right balance between darkness and light effects from the lamps in the rear of the room. maybe colour temperature is a little too warm, but that is a minor detail.

This one taken with:

f4.5
one second exposure
flash synch

which seems to give the in-between. Which is better really depends on the adjustment of the computer mon.

C-fu,

I have been doing experiments on the effect of uploading different file sizes at different "Upload Options", and the efect of changing "Upload Options" on uploaded files. Findings so far are puzzling. Taking a break!

Cheers!

Richard, this is the best I can get without going through the hassle of resizing. It has to be 1024 minimum.

C-fu,

According to Photobucket, your pictures are saved when you upload in their original size. The "Upload Options" is about "how you want your photos displayed on Photobucket and linked to other sites".

Probably something needs to be corrected in your upload operation.

It is highest mountain in Germany, Zugspitze ( 2.600m )
The one with the lake is Sankt Moritz , Swissland
If you love to ski, this place is a must - one more Zugspitze picture

Now I know why the Germans (and Austrians too!) are such incredible skiers! The peaks on these mountains look unforgivingly hard, the 'drops' must be just wild. Very different than the ones I skied in Canada, both Banff and Whistler are tame in comparison. Patrick, thanks again for sharing the pics, nice way to escape sitting at the desk. BTW, there're few places in HK that also serve German sausages, I must take you there when you get back:-)
